Principal's Message

As the new principal of San Juan Elementary School, I have been continually impressed by the students, families, teachers, and staff of our San Juan community.  We are a learning community in the highest sense of the phrase.  Each student is supported in cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth through developmentally appropriate means to reach his or her highest potential and achieve their personal best.

Students and families at San Juan Elementary School are part of an amazing learning community.  Our teachers are experienced, committed, and caring, using Common Core Standards, state-approved 21st century curriculum, and powerful, research-evidenced instructional strategies to support our students to high achievement.  Our staff is exceptionally skilled in providing support services for our students.  Our families are deeply engaged in our school community and work hard to support our school in so many ways.  With a new instructional leader, San Juan School is on a path to powerful growth and learning.

A Dual Immersion Language Instruction school, we offer daily instruction in both Spanish and English to build biliteracy skills in our dual immersion students, preparing them for our global society.    We also offer after-school French classes.  All students learn global responsibility, from recycling to peaceful conflict resolution.

We are working hard this year to support the exceptional school culture at San Juan.  We have a strong commitment to school safety at all times.  We are deepening our commitment to positive behavior support school-wide.  We are teaching and modeling peaceful solutions and responsible choices.  Our students are learning to be safe, respectful, and responsible in all their behaviors and interactions.

In addition to our traditional school day, families can take advantage of after-school programming in partnership with the YMCA.  Our new program director, Mr. Cota, guides his program leaders in offering homework support, physical activity, and social interaction for our after-school program students.  The after-school program is free to our families.

It is an honor to be part of the San Juan School community.
